had a great day in salt lake city Utah. started off lost but finally found the bingham copper mine. a truly amazing site to see these gigantic trucks hauling all that rocks away. we found a truly amazing place after; in-n-out. that made noah very happy for the rest of the day. we than went to the salt lake. had to drive onto an island by a causeway. saw some free roaming bison. one was pooping and the other was either scratching or doing something else(?!?!) against a large rock. we were sure it was scratching... spent some time at the beach. the water was very warm and shallow. there were flat rocks everywhere and Noah and i had a great time skipping them. he was way better than i. mark and the other kids went into the water and was able to float in the water. smart ass Noah brought up the fact that you can float in any water, but mark insisted that it was much easier in the salt water. millions of pounds of salt is added to the lake every year. the salt is so concentrated, that only a specific type of shrimp is able to live in it. no fish. the sunset was beautiful and we were all tired at the end of the day. we hope to get an early start tomorrow and make it to Cheyenne Wyoming by tomorrow night.

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing you!
ReplyDeleteI could so see you being one of those families who sell everything and live in a trailer as they travel, homeschooling their kids along the way. Good info on the salt, never realized they added it or that only shrimp lived in it. You are amazing for so many reasons but mainly because you are traveling with your family in a van for a month...or maybe I should change that to crazy. Both adjectives suit you well. ;)
ReplyDeleteI am loving the blog! Great Pictures! Miss you all :)
