going to find the zombies.

should we give money to the bum?

can we leave yet?

fail

after our long travel day on Thursday, we settled into our favorite campsite yet. we are staying with good friends in Maryland. they have a beautiful property that the kids love. lots of trees to climb. we got in Thurs. night, and on Friday afternoon decided to go into Philadelphia. knew it was a bit of a late start, but we had a great time. saw the liberty bell and very old buildings.saw where Ben Franklin was buried and while there, Asher asks if this was a real or fake cemetery? i told him it was real and he asked if there was zombies? huh... no. so Asher says it must be fake than. spending to much time with Noah i think. rode on a merry-go-round,saw a bum(mark?)and most enjoyed an authentic Philly cheese steak. on the way home, we even went through Delaware. kinda forgot that was even a state. learned it was the first state. Anthony thought it was country in Russia...sigh...home school is showing. it was late when we got back.

this morning enjoyed a good sleep in. kids played in the huge yard all day. stopped briefly to go with our lovely hosts Tom and Dottie to a local dam. it was amazing to see the bald eagles there. the dam was interesting also. we even saw black vultures. many many black vultures. they looked like they had masks on. had a great meal later that evening with Tom and Dottie's daughter and her family. the kids met more great friends. a very nice and quiet day. off to d.c. tomorrow.

  1. I was going to comment about cemeteries in your last post. When we first moved to Cali one of the first things I noticed was the lack of cemeteries. I asked where do you bury people out here? People thought it was a strange question, but back east there is a cemetery at almost every church. When we went back home last year I took the kids to Nottingham cemetery. It has some historic grave markers, but it also has some very artistic ones. My favorite is the one with the two farms etched on it. Admittedly it is a bit creepy since the faces of those who haven't passed in the family are also etched on there. Jace who was a bit worried about my love of tombstones shared in my hobby by the time our tour was over. It's an easy stop right up the road from my folks if you need something to do one afternoon. Wish we were there with you!

  2. We are not your normal KOA camp ground, but we are The Best K O 8 A (kamping on 8 acreas) in
Maryland. It's been great having the 7 Pursel's stay with us on our side of the USA.

  4. It was really great meeting your family. I am enjoying looking at your pics and reading about your adventures while you are out here. Looking forward to seeing you all again before you head back west.
