crazy hawk

left Vegas and traveled through Nevada and Arizona. stopped off at virgin river in Arizona and decided to have lunch. after the kids ate, mark took them all down to the river. after packing up, i went outside and saw a beautiful hawk land on the van. i was pretty bummed that no one else was there to see it. realizing i still had half my sandwich, i wondered if he would catch a piece of bread. i threw him a piece and he dove to catch it. he took the bread back up to the top of the van. Anthony walks up so i shush him and show him the bird. he grabs his camera and i throw another piece of bread to him. by now he sees that i have much more than bits of bread and he comes closer to me. i throw him a piece of meat next. well he decides that he would prefer all my sandwich and flies straight towards me. so of course i calmly let him have it. and if Anthony tells you how i screamed and threw the sandwich at the bird, well he lies sometimes.after that, the bird would not go away. he tried to get into the trailer. by now the rest of the family has returned and a few (Noah, Asher) were clawing their way into the van. refusing to get out. even after going down to the river, the hawk continued to follow us. of course mark had fun scaring Noah by screaming "it's behind you". still laughing about that one. when we returned to the van to get ready to go, guess who decides to pop over to bid farewell. yep the hawk was back. he chased everyone except Anthony and mark into the van, and mark had to get Anthony to throw a piece of cheese out the trailer so they also could make their escape. we left looking over our shoulders for him to follow us. but no luck. i did try to get Jae to get a feather for Brynna, but she wouldn't do it. it was a great memory for the kids and will have us laughing for a long time. good to be able to spend these great times with each other. after the hawk incident, we had to travel for about 6 hours to salt lake city Utah. we will be here for 2 days.
